Microcement calculator

Estimate materials for a microcement system

How the calculation works

Enter the areas, pick the microcement system (layers), consumption per layer, number of layers, pack size and reserve. The calculator works out the quantity per product and the number of packs, and optionally the cost.

Formula and assumptions

For each product: consumption per m² = consumption per layer × number of layers; total = consumption per m² × area; with reserve = total × (1 + reserve); packs = with reserve ÷ pack size, rounded up. Enter consumption and pack sizes from the manufacturer's data sheet – the example below uses assumed values.

Worked example

Assumption: 1.2 kg/m² per layer, 2 layers, 15 kg pack, 10 % reserve, area 20 m². Total 1.2 × 2 × 20 = 48 kg; with reserve 48 × 1.1 = 52.8 kg → 52.8 ÷ 15 = 3.52 → 4 packs (60 kg).

What affects real consumption

  • Substrate preparation and absorbency.
  • Application technique and layer thickness.
  • The protective lacquer (water-based or solvent-based) and its consumption.

Frequently asked questions

Where do I get microcement consumption figures?

From the data sheet of your chosen manufacturer; consumption differs by system and layer.

Is the lacquer included in the calculation?

Lacquer is calculated separately from the selected type and its consumption per m².
