Epoxy floor calculator
Primer, epoxy paint, quartz, chips and topcoat for the chosen system and area, with pack sizes
How the calculation works
Enter the area and choose one of the 7 epoxy systems. Depending on the system, the calculator asks for the primer rate, the epoxy rate per coat, the number of coats, the self-levelling thickness, decorative chips and the topcoat rate. The result is the calculated quantities in kg and the packs to buy.
Formula and assumptions
Primer = area × primer rate (0.25–0.4 kg/m²). Epoxy = area × rate per coat (0.25–0.3 kg/m²) × number of coats. Topcoat = area × rate per coat (0.07–0.12 kg/m²) × number of coats. Quartz broadcast 2 kg/m²; quartz in the primer or epoxy at a 1:1 ratio; self-levelling epoxy 0.85 kg/m² per mm. Packs: primer 30 and 10 kg, epoxy 30 and 16 kg, topcoat 5 and 1 kg – the combination with the lowest total weight that covers the need is chosen.
Worked example
System 3 (primer + epoxy + topcoat), 50 m², primer 325 g/m², epoxy 275 g/m² in 2 coats, topcoat 95 g/m² in 2 coats: primer 16.25 kg → 2 × 10 kg; epoxy 27.5 kg → 1 × 30 kg; topcoat 9.5 kg → 2 × 5 kg. Total to buy: 60 kg.
What affects real consumption
- The system decides which materials are calculated (primer, quartz, topcoat, self-levelling layer).
- The rate per coat and the number of coats directly multiply the epoxy and topcoat quantities.
- The substrate, the application method and decorative chips change the real consumption.
Frequently asked questions
Why is the quantity to buy larger than the calculated one?
Primer, epoxy and topcoat are sold in fixed packs, so the need is rounded to the pack combination that covers it. The difference is the surplus left in the pack.
What is full flake?
A full broadcast of decorative chips at 1.1 kg/m². The calculator then works out the topcoat in two layers, 5 kg per 15 m² and 5 kg per 30 m², instead of the usual topcoat rate.
